Why Buddha said you can’t hide this..

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
- Buddha

Buddha, like other wise gurus, spoke about life and philosophy relating them to easily understandable realities.

Can you hide the moon and the sun? Yes, but not for long.

As day follows night, truth follows darkness. They, the sun and the moon, keep showing up to all. Likewise one can’t hide truth for long. Look at all the scandals, think of all the secrets you hid for sometime in your own lives. Could you keep them for ever? Did they not tumble out, did you not fumble or mumble? Were you not caught, embarrassed and ashamed?

Why should you tell the truth?
The benefits of telling the truth is that you don’t have to remember anything in your life (old saying). It simply means that when you speak the truth, you do not have to rehearse or recall or dust your memory. You need not remember whether you must say this or not. You need not worry about what you said to whom, when and where! You see there are no variations in telling the truth. There are a dozed variations when you lie.

Another benefit of saying the truth is that it frees your mind. You feel so light when you have shared the truth you’ve buried in your mind for some time.

Of course, it keeps your conscience clean. And the good karma keeps adding up. And sure it brings you a lot of happiness.

Besides, it earns you the trust of other people. Doesn’t it? Let me tell you the story of Gandhi’s moment of truth.

I made love when my father was dying: Mahatma Gandhi (My Experiments with Truth)
Gandhi, the man the world revers for his non violence philosophy, was by his ill father’s bedside for many days. Taking care of him with love. When his uncle came by and offered to relieve him for some hours, Gandhi went to his room woke up his wife and made love. Minutes later he was woken up by the servant who announced that his father was dead.

He could have kept this to himself and struggled with his conscience. But he wrote about it in his autobiography “My Experiments with truth.” A man who was loved by martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and feared by the British in all humility admits this wrong in a book. That’s why we remember Gandhi. He asked people to speak the truth and he walked the talk himself.

Don’t hide the truth. Don’t be afraid of speaking the truth. Say it like it is. And go to sleep peacefully.

Success Tip

You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong.

What Famous People say about Depression

I never asked you to earn me. I want only that you should need me. Your path is not one of merit. Bring the recurring desires of your mind to me, every time they emerge. They cannot shock me, for I willed them! Bring me your confusion, your fear, your craving, your anxiety, your inability to love the world, your hesitation to serve, your jealousy, all the deficiencies that defy your spiritual disciplines.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Spiritual Guru from India

This is my depressed stance. When you're depressed, it makes a lot of difference how you stand. The worst thing you can do is straighten up and hold your head high because then you'll start to feel better. If you're going to get any joy out of being depressed, you've got to stand like this.
Charlie Brown

Depression is rage spread thin.
George Santayana

Depression is the inability to construct a future.
Rollo May

I start to feel like I can’t maintain the facade any longer, that I may just start to show through. And I wish I knew what was wrong. Maybe something about how stupid my whole life is. I don’t know. Why does the rest of the world put up with the hypocrisy, the need to put a happy face on sorrow, the need to keep on keeping on?... I don’t know the answer, I know only that I can’t. I don't want any more vicissitudes, I don't want any more of this try, try again stuff. I just want out. I’ve had it. I am so tired. I am twenty and I am already exhausted.
Elizabeth Wurtzel

I am a doll for play , or do the words you said dint mean anything. Are words only words or is it meant to kill me when times go by. Am I nothing , or the world made me feel like I am nothing. Will the days pass by and go brighter , Will I ever find someone , someone to call my own , or was i meant to be alone.
Woofer

Depression is nourished by a lifetime of ungrieved and unforgiven hurts.
Penelope Sweet

Depression is not sobbing and crying and giving vent, it is plain and simple reduction of feeling...People who keep stiff upper lips find that it's damn hard to smile.
Judith Guest

In a strange way, I had fallen in love with my depression. Dr. Sterling was right about that. I loved it because I thought it was all I had. I thought depression was the part of my character that made me worthwhile. I thought so little of myself, felt that I had such scant offerings to give to the world, that the one thing that justified my existence at all was my agony."
Elizabeth Wurtzel

Slowly slipping in a deep dark pit, i find my self near the end of my life, i thank my friends and family for everything they have done to help me over the years with my aching pain, i remain, unknown and i don't want to share my feelings, thoughts, knowing it will only make others sad, i've only made it so far thanks to my girl friend, shes a lovely woman, happy glaring smile whenever i see her, she makes me have a new lease on life, now i'm here sitting at home typing this out, i feel so alone because noone is here beside my friends and my family have gone and i'm here stuck in my deep dark pit..

4 Simple Ways to Keep Fit Naturally

Who doesn’t want to keep fit and stay healthy naturally? Follow these simple tips that our forefathers used and keep fit.

Have Adequate Sleep
Most of us do not know that fitness is directly related to sleep. Atleast 8 hours of sleep is necessary to rest and recharge. Even cars, planes and trains need rest. If you overwork something, it leads to inefficiencies in the system and develops problems. The body is also a system that needs to be maintained well. Did you know that police and armies across the world use “sleep deprivation” techniques to break down suspects and get the truth. Long hours of sleep denial makes them mad and to escape that torture they spill the beans. That shows the disastrous effects of lack of sleep can cause. Sleep at regular times and hit the bed about two hours after you eat. See to it that the room has enough ventilation and there’s no noise in the background.

Be Active and Exercise
Are you getting confined to your desk at work? Are you addicted to the internet that you browse long hours even at home? Then you must learn to get out of that chair and move around. Sedentary lives cause a lot of health issues as one ages. It’s best to walk, jog or swim every day. This burns the fat, tones the muscle and keeps the body in good condition.

Watch the Food you Eat
The dreaded oil, red meat, caffeine, salt and sugar must be cut to smaller proportions to avoid unnecessary health problems. Eat enough vegetables, greens, salads and natural food that’s rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. JUNK is not for healthy systems. And drink 10 to 12 glasses of water each day.

Develop a Positive Mindset
To survive and live peacefully in this man made jungle, one needs to have oodles of patience. Don’t get worked up over small things at home or office. Look at the good side of people and compliment them. Work on your strengths. Learn to share and care. Community and nature are a key part of happiness for humans. Participate and give back to nature and society.

Coping with Depression – Positive Tips

It’s never easy to cope with bouts of depression. But learn how to deal with depression by following achievable goals.

Since the mind is not in a positive frame, you can’t have quick recovery plans and execute them. Try, hard as it is, to get out of bed and do small things that’ll make you feel better.

Call those close to you. Speaking to them can certainly make you a little happy. It also helps to know that some people love and care for you.

Catch a fresh breath of air by talking a little walk. You’ll feel much better than sitting the whole day at home.

Eat well and adequately. Try plenty of fruits.

Try sleeping for atleast 8 hours. A good rest ensures a healthier system to fight depression.

Join a club if it’s possible, so that you can relax a bit and meet people too.

Don’t feel very normal, join a Depression Form and meet up others who are facing similar problems and learn how they deal with depression.

Rewarding yourself for every small progress is recommended.

Try a hobby. Painting, music or dance. That should provide you a little welcome diversion.

Fight the cause. Identify all those things that cause depression in you. It could be work, finance or relationship related. Resolve each one of them.

Don’t stay idle for long. Take a walk, go out for coffee or jog.

Don’t hesitate to get medical help when you need it.

Dealing with Lack of Motivation

How to deal with lack of motivation? Simple strategies to uplift your feeling every morning when you’re down.

Are you feeling overwhelmed with too much work to do and very little time?
If your answer is yes, then you must learn to pin down the issue. Write down the list of tasks to be done. Prioritize the activities. Which would you like to do first. I mean which task is more important and valuable? Once you have identified it, work on it first. Completion of every task gives you a sense of achievement. That’s motivation by itself.

Do you feel there’s nothing challenging to do?
We all need challenges to overcome and feel good and recognised for surmounting it. Sometimes the lack of motivation stems from lack of challenges. Be it work or at sport. Find something that’ll up your drive and give you that rush of adrenalin.

Not being recognised at work?
This can bring down your motivation levels. If your superior is not recognising your achievements or lesser talented colleagues are being recognised at work for smaller achievements. This can cause negative feelings in you and bring down your energy levels. You must take time to speak to your superior about this. Also take up some other tasks to gain recognition. This should stir you up and motivate you well.

Is there a deep seated problem bothering you?
Sometimes when a personal, financial or work related problem seizes us, we tend to get into a feeling of depression. If you are not managing your finances well, do some thing about it. If a relationship is souring, speak to the other person and sort things out. Face the issue and resolve. Just sitting down will not much good.

Is life not interesting?
Plain routine life can also lead to lack of motivation. Deal with lack of motivation by stirring up something interesting. Go outbound this weekend. Throw a party for friends. Rev up your spirits by joining a dance class. Pick up that dormant hobby and get energised. Motivate yourself positively by doing new things that make you feel refreshed.

Here are some motivating quotes to make you feel good.
The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore.
Dale Carnegie

Real success comes in small portions day by day. You need to take pleasure in life's daily little treasures. It is the most important thing in measuring success.
Denis Waitley

If you really want something, you can figure out how to make it happen.
Cher

Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love.
David McCullough
Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing, that we see too late the one that is open.
Alexander Graham Bell

You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness that is already within you, and allowing that goodness to emerge. But it can only emerge if something fundamental changes in your state of consciousness.
Eckhart Tolle

Learn to Cope with Loneliness

Loneliness is a deep seated feeling of separateness. Here’s help on how to cope with loneliness. Loneliness sets in when we grapple with a problem and our confidence is low in handling it. Feeling lonely is quite common these days.

Are you feeling unwelcome
Sometimes a negative experience in childhood can leave a huge scar on ones personality. Over a period, some overcome it, others who don’t feel undesirable and drown in loneliness. Even adults with low self esteem and facing rejections from people around can feel desperately alone.

Do you feel unwanted
Relationships that turn sour can cause severe psychological damage to some. They feel helpless in dealing with it and can generally withdraw from social activities.

Physically challenged
When normal activities are hampered, this is a painful feeling to overcome. Few accept the conditions and overcome it. Others start thinking why this happened to me. Am I not a good person? What bad karma has brought this?

Are you grappling with the loss of someone dear
When someone close to us dies, there’s a terrible sense of emptiness that descends on us. We feel that a huge vacuum is around us. We feel life has become worse or less wonderful after the person has gone away. Life suddenly seems to have no meaning.

Are you grappling with a relationship split
Dependence on partners or girlfriends and boyfriends results in a terrible disconnect, after the break-up. It’s but natural that two people don’t see eye to eye and want to split. But when you don’t have a warning and it comes out of the blue, some can’t seem to manage emotions.

Are you mentally ill
Chronic pains, incurable illnesses can also lead to withdrawals and pangs of loneliness.

Are you old
Old age with its physiological changes can result in a sense of hopelessness. With not much income, not enough people to take care, the feeling of unwantedness sinks in.

Get connected to positive relationships
One can’t allow just time to heal such feelings. You need to find solutions to manage loneliness. Go out and network, join the gym or club. Meet new people and pass your time.

This could be a nice way to keeping away those dark feelings. Positive strokes can make you confident in dealing with separateness.

Speak about your fears and insecurities
Humans are social animals. We were born to live with others. We need people to talk about our passion, aims, fears and insecurities. Can you speak to someone at home, friends or an old schoolmate.

Once you speak about what causes loneliness, then you feel lighter. You feel that you’ve got the monkey off your back.

Be where the crowd is
Avoid being alone anywhere. Seek company, even if you don’t participate. Get out of your bedroom and head to the hall. Get out of your cubicle and go for coffee. Being where people are around you tends to calm your nervousness.

See the doctor
If you feel you’re not in control of yourself. Please see the doctor. A specialist who can help you understand the root and overcome the feeling of loneliness.

How to Find Your Passion and Follow it?

Passion is an intense feeling for something. If you find it, pursue it and make yourself happy.

Quite often we drift away in life, not stopping to think if what we do makes us happy. But, ask this question now.

What makes me happy? What is the one thing that I’ll be happy doing even if I don’t make much money from it.

Chances are that it could be gardening, crafts, music, charity, children, writing – something very simple.

But how do you find out what you’re passionate about?
Think of all the good times when you lost yourself in something. When time flew by, when you felt great after doing it. When you felt light post the event. And when you felt life’s purpose had been close to being achieved. This will lead you to your inner self. The one that actually drives you to do things you do.
Now, after some introspection, if you found it was gardening (or something else), then you must plan to spend some time on this every week.

Just step out and walk by your garden. Are the flowers colourful and blooming? Can you smell the leaves? Do you feel good that you’re fortunate to have a garden.

Now take stock of what’s there in the garden. List what you’d like to have – plants, fruits, vegetables.

Write down how you’d like the layout to be. Would some fixtures and pebbles look good.

Now, get to the market and buy things month after month, till you set up the garden.

Plant the seeds yourself, manure and water them regularly. Small thrills but you’ll feel happy for sure.

Found your passion. Follow the passion. Find happiness.

5 Ways to Improve Self Confidence Instantly

Learn to build your Self Confidence instantly using these 5 simple tips.

Very often when our confidence is down, we tend to introspect why we are not admired as much as some others we know. But, if only we asked “what is it that is admirable about the other person”, then we may find answers. And build our own self esteem.

Self Confidence is about how we look at ourselves and how the world looks at us. So, let’s begin with simple confidence building tips.

Dress Well
We dress smart so that we look good to others. And feel good when we are wearing clothes that fit us and improve our looks. Just reflect on what suits you best. When did friends or colleagues praise your sense of dressing. Was it in formals, casuals, jeans and t-shirts? Find out what suits you and makes you feel good after wearing. If you haven’t tried certain styles or colours, try them. When we mean dressing, a lot of other things go with it. A clean shaven face, styled hair, polished shoes, jewelry and the right perfumes. Never go out without seeing the mirror and assuring yourself of looking good and feeling confident. Dress well and step out in confidence.

Speak Smart
If you can’t talk, you will lose a lot of opportunities in relationships and work. The man who wields the tongue rules the world, is an old saying. It’s not necessary to attend a workshop on Public Speaking at the Dale Carnegie Institute, but you must be able to contribute meaningfully to a discussion. The best way is to listen and speak slowly after thinking what you want to say. Always appreciate the positive things about others. Build your sense of humor. A pinch of humor in speech will earn you admirers. Be interested in what the other person is saying, this endears you to the speaker. Don’t go on and on, be brief. Give others a chance to listen and react.

Compliment People Generously
We all want to be recognised, don’t we? If you want to build confidence in yourself, learn to appreciate the strengths and achievements of friends, colleagues and partner. When you feel something about the other person is nice, tell them. A feeling of goodness is infectious. The voice tells people you’re genuine. Words will flow smoothly when you feel good and speak. When you make others happy with your words, your confidence gets a shot in the arm. It will uplift your spirit.

Build on your Strengths
What are your strengths? Conversation, music, connecting to people... Work on your positive side and build them further. This will help you feel better. This will help you gain the confidence of others. Play to your strengths and soon you’ll begin to earn the admiration of those around you.

Improve Body Language
Are you walking too slowly or awkwardly? Do you slouch? Find it hard to stand firm on your feet? Or feel uncomfortable while sitting upright?

Then you need to work on them right now.
Extend your hand confidently, grasp the hand firmly and shake hands with warmth.
When you stand, space your feet a little apart, just enough to make you feel confident.
While sitting occupy the complete chair, site erect and cross your legs confidently.
Smile when you recognise a face

These strategies should help build you self esteem and confidence today.

Lao Tzu thoughts on Leaders

Superior leaders get things done with very little motion. They impart instruction not through many words, but through a few deeds. They keep informed about everything but interfere hardly at all. They are catalysts, and though things would not get done as well if they were not there, when they succeed they take no credit. And, because they take no credit, credit never leaves them.

Lao-Tzu, Chinese Philosopher

Tips to Gain Motivation

Process Orientation: Instead of focusing on your goals, try extracting joy from each individual task along the way. In other words, focus on the process instead of the product. You may find that many of your tasks are enjoyable (or can be made that way) if you stop worrying about their overall purpose.
John Place

Use a loss of motivation as an opportunity to reconsider what your motivation really is. One reason I lost motivation is that I became too concerned with the financial aspect of blogging and lost sight of the real reason I started: sharing my passion for self improvement and the pursuit of happiness. When I realigned my motivation with my passion, the lack of results didn’t matter. My motivation returned because I realized connecting with people through my writing is an end in itself. Even if this site never makes I dime, sharing my ideas and experiences to help other people is worth the effort.
John Wesley

The next thing is to visualize! Visualizing is very powerful. See yourself as being successful. Imagine how great it will feel when you finally achieve what you are trying to do. Visualize people patting you on the back, hugging or clapping you, for a job well done. See these images as vividly as you can, and as often as you can. Imagine how this will feel.
Kay Drummond

Remember the benefits of staying fit and what it will do for your body in the short and long run. Some of the benefits of exercising is losing and maintaining weight. It also prevents or manageshigh blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, preventing cancer, builds muscle, improves mood, reduced stress, and the list goes on. This way you’ll gain motivation to stay fit.
Nicheleon

Set yourself some goals and try to mix with positive people. Positive people are usually happy, confident, enthusiastic and will give you plenty of encouragement. They will help to bring a little bit of sunshine into your life, and instead of putting you down, they will help to build your hopes and be there to support you. It's great having a friend who enquires about your health, and perhaps who will join you at an exercise class. Steer clear of the negative types, who will try to undermine your confidence.

Understanding Oneself - Road to Self Discovery

Understanding one self? Here's the Road to Discovering your self.

At first, It seems very difficult to do, but it’s not so.

Yes, it does require a bit of perseverance, questioning and oodles of patience.

Most of the time people REACT to things, people and circumstances. By REACT I mean a response that seems almost automated and not in full control of the individual.

By ACT I mean being able to see a tree as a tree, without any color. Which simply means you need to see the tree without any filter. What’s a filter – conditioning, knowledge, experience.

See a tree by being totally aware of the freshness of the leaves and the fragrance of the flowers. Not the scientific knowledge it’s a banyan tree, it’s large, the roots are long and deep etc.

I’d like to draw a parallel. How do you feel when you see a sunset. A feeling of beauty overtakes you. You are enamoured by it’s colors and radiant charm.

Actually, when you see a sunset, you are with the sunset. There’s no thought in your head. You are one with the sunset.

That’s how you should see the tree. Without a thought.

By understanding oneself I mean being able to rise above the automated reaction response. I mean being able to see, experience and realize things as they are. Not from a point of view (filter or conditioning).

Can you do it?

YES YOU CAN.

How to do it?
Let’s assume the mind is like a pond of water. If it’s still, you can bend over and see the weeds, tadpoles and fishes at the bottom.

Throw a few stones and you’ll no longer be able to see any of them, except muddy water.

These stones are what you have read, seen, what elders told you, teachers taught you, what you saw in the movies and the television.

They condition you.

But when you saw the sunset none of these interfered with your experience. That’s why you were able to experience a state of bliss.

So, you need to break away from your knowledge, experience and conditioning.

Understanding Your Self! How to do it?
Just allow your thoughts to break free. Let them run as wild horses. Don’t chain them by being judgemental.

As you do this over a period in time, by not questioning, validating, labelling them; your thoughts are no longer hindered by knowledge, experience and conditioning.

It’s soon able to see beyond. That’s when you UNDERSTAND yourself.

Who you are? What’s the purpose of your existence? Why do you do things the way you do?

Then anger, frustration, greed and jealousy no longer live in your system.

You FEEL ALIVE to the moment. And it’s POSSIBILITIES.

7 Experts Reveal the Killing Resume's Tricks

It's NOT about past jobs! IT'S ABOUT YOU, and how you performed in those past jobs--which predict how you might perform in a future job.
Yana Parker

Employers make snap judgments when glancing at your resume. If they see unrelated job titles or skills the likelihood is very high that they will make an immediate assumption that you are not qualified for the job you want. Adding to this problem is the fact that employers don't have the time to read through each of your job descriptions to determine if you have the skills they need.
Freeresumetips.com

Don't fudge over dates or titles to hide the fact that you have been unemployed, that you switched jobs too frequently or that you held low-level positions. If a prospective employer conducts a background check and discovers that you lied, you can kiss the job good-bye.
Peter Newfield

Like it or not, employers will usually make a judgment about your resume in 5 seconds. Under this time frame the most important aspect will be the titles that you listed on the resume, so make sure they grab the attention. Try to be as descriptive as possible, giving the employer a good idea about the nature of your past work experiences.
Dailywritingtips.com

A chronological format emphasizes professional experience; however, it is best if a chronological resume utilizes a focused summary of qualifications that quickly conveys essential skills to an employer. This provides an opportunity to immediately capture attention through vital keywords and employer-centric language, thereby ensuring you make a strong first impression during the critical 15-second initial screening.
Careerperfect.com

Yes, but only to the extent that the details demonstrate your accomplishments. You can use abbreviated language and make sure you “tell the story” through your results. Just telling what your responsibilities are will NOT get you the interview. You have to convince the hiring manager that you can get results.
Stefanie Spikell

The most obvious ones are spelling and grammar. It is surprising just how many resumes we receive with spelling and grammar faults. In fact it is very rare indeed to receive a resume without at least some spelling and grammar faults. It is a mistake to think that an employer will not spot your mistakes. Mistakes show a lack of thoroughness and this alone could cost you your job.

Faith in Oneself Quotes

Whether exploring new terrains, running races or worshipping God,faith in others, faith in oneself and faith in God is essential.

Life is full of such challenges and it is faith which fuels all our endeavours to tackle them. It is this dynamo which drives our actions. Energised by faith, any task - material or spiritual - will be accomplished.
Sadhu Amrutvijaydas

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.
Gail Devers, American Athelete

Faith can move mountains. Faith can work wonders. Faith heals and creates. Faith is the searchlight for finding God. Faith makes the weak strong and the timid brave. Faith makes the impossible possible. Faith can give you peace, inner spiritual strength, joy, freedom, immortality and bliss.
Swami Sivananda Saraswati

A little faith will bring your soul to heaven, but a lot of faith will bring heaven to your soul. '
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faith, prayer, mythology gods and goddesses are all ways to keep going beyond your sense of the individual self - they enable you to break out of the prison of individuality, the prison of the mind, and allow something much deeper inside you to connect to something far more expansive. More expansive emotionally, more expansive instinctually , more expansive spiritually, and more expansive creatively.
Shekhar Kapur

Faith in oneself... is the best and safest course.
Jean Paul Richter

Because faith is one of the most powerful forces in existence. There are many levels to faith, but the first basic level is having faith in oneself. So many young people today lack this faith. They are told by others and society in general that if they don't look or act a certain way they won't be accepted. It's this same lack of faith that leads them to make poor choices, and it's the choices we make that determines whether we are powerful or powerless in life.
Faith Force

Pulitzer prize-winning American journalist Norman Cousins displayed such disciplined confidence in his ability to defy the deadliness of a disease by a programme of abstention and a conscious campaign to live in harmony with himself. Given by doctors just six months of life, he lived for 20 years to tell the tale and analyze the modern Americans' pathetic reliance on drugs as cures. The real basis of cure is faith, in oneself, in divine power and in fellow humans like one's doctor.

Self Improvement During Tough Times

Feeling depressed? Lost your job? Improve yourself and be motivated, the next job is round the corner.

The first thing that hurts us during a slowdown is our self esteem. And it slowly begins to erode our clarity of thought. Although, it’s tough we must motivate ourselves to keep oneself engaged during such times. What are the simple things to do?

Look for good consultants
Yes, we must find out the right consultants who work in our domain and reach them. For which we need specialized resumes in sync with the job applied for.

Find a part time job
If you can’t get a full time work, part time is better than rotting or wallowing in self pity. Don’t worry about whether it’s within your core domain knowledge. Employers would like to know what meaningful activity you did during a career break.

Consult if you can
Is there a key skill or capability you can put to use. DO IT NOW. Take up an assignment.

Pursue a dream
The slowdown is a god sent opportunity for chasing those little dreams of yours. Give back to community, learn hip hop, bike, travel or start a blog.

Connect to professional forums
Now’s the time to look for those clubs, associations, libraries to join. Participate, network and build relationships.

Read some books
With time on our hands, we might benefit immensely from reading a self improvement book, good fiction or favourite authors. Perhaps, you might want to do some reading on trends in your professional area of activity.

Most important of all, connect to family
When our emotions are disturbed, we must anchor our thoughts in family. These bonds are strong enough to dissipate negative thoughts and re-energize us.

Body and Mind Relationship

The 1st rule is you will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the duration of your time here on Earth. And a lot of us take that for granted, but some people take better care of their cars than they do their bodies. Some people respect their bodies and some people abuse their bodies.

Some people just tolerate their body and other people actually honor their bodies. When you see someone who honors their body, it’s as if they’ve established a relationship with it that is based on respect and care and dignity and a real partnership between one’s spirit and one’s body. Part of the goal of rule #1 is to be able to formulate that partnership because it is the only relationship that you’ll have from birth to death that will endure.

Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott, Success Coach

Famous Career Quotations

It's not what you achieve, it's what you overcome. That's what defines your career.
Carlton Frisk

Obstacles are necessary for success because in selling, as in all careers of importance, victory comes only after many struggles and countless defeats.
Og Mandino

If you wish to achieve worthwhile things in your personal and career life, you must become a worthwhile person in your own self-development.
Brian Tracy

No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like.
Napoleon Hill

If you're a careerist, thinking only to advance your media career, then I don't really want to work with you.
Michael Moore

For many people a job is more than an income – it's an important part of who we are. So a career transition of any sort is one of the most unsettling experiences you can face in your life.
Paul Clitheroe

Some of the best business and nonprofit CEOs I've worked with over a sixty-five-year consulting career were not stereotypical leaders. They were all over the map in terms of their personalities, attitudes, values, strengths, and weaknesses.

Motivating your team in bad times

It’s tough times, so hold your team together and keep the flock motivated. Uplift their drive or you’re on the hot seat.

Connect to them
This is a priority in motivating your folks. Spend more time with them, understand if they have any issues at work that’s bothering them and offer a fix. Give them scope to do something that they are passionate about. Let them utilize 15 to 20 percent of their time on this. Look at Google’s policy of allowing employees to pursue their passion 20 percent of the time. It has produced a lot of new application for the company. Many innovative ideas will roll out of this rule. It’s the time for mentoring your key team mates. As a supervisor you have the responsibility to chart a career path and help people grow.

What makes employees tick?
Not everyone is motivated by money. A few may be driven by position. Yet others may be happy with recognition. As a supervisor, you must find out what makes your team mates tick. What really drives them. And use individual triggers to pump up their motivation levels.

Do they see meaning in the work they do?
Happiness is much more than just a job. There needs to be a purpose. Employees must be aware of the mission of the company. They must feel happy about contributing meaningfully to the team’s cause. Is the individual in alignment with the team’s cause. Or does one feel better off doing something else. As a manager you must harness the team’s capabilities and push them in the same direction.

Chalk a growth path
If team mates don’t know where they are headed, then you know that you’re heading nowhere. A sense of belonging will arise when the individual feels the company is long at his long term interests and chalking a growth path for him or her. Make him aware of a career path available for him. He’ll get his efforts and enthusiasm in the right direction.

Is the team gelling well as a unit
The binding factor of joy in a team is critical to keeping juniors motivated. How long is it since you took them out for coffee? Do you know if there are any fissures within the team. Step in now and save your team. Bonding between members is very important during bad times. Employees need to feel good about working on your team.

Handling Loneliness Positively

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.

Positive Encouraging Sayings to Motivate You

Whenever you see an employee or coworker doing a great job, be willing to make the effort to let him/her know you appreciate the good work that's being done. Simple words of appreciation, sincerely stated, are extremely powerful, highly appreciated and have important, positive consequences.
Bill Roche

Have you ever thanked your husband for "choosing you" above
all other women? He found you attractive as a person, and appreciated you. Though
many circumstances in your marriage may have changed, let your husband know that
you are glad God led you together, and that you want to be a blessing to him for the rest
of your marriage. Let him know that he can trust you to be in his corner.
Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Do you bring sunshine or gloom into the room? If you are a negative person, don't say, "I'm just a worrier. I was born that way." Or, "It’s my nature to be depressed." God is in the personality-changing business. He wants you to "be conformed to the likeness of his Son" (Romans 8:29). You can change. You can become known for your encouraging words.
Doug Britton

Have you ever noticed? … when your boss praises your work or encourages you in the morning, how delighted you are! You feel like pouring your heart in the work you do, even if there is no other good reason. The words of praise keep ringing sweet bells in your ears throughout the day. In the evening, you even tell your wife about it.
child-discipline-with-love.com

It is easier to memorize, and subsequently repeat, positively experienced images. There is plenty of time to discuss/practice things that need to be improved the next day by viewing objective films or gaining feedback from others. What is most important is to reinforce the positive aspects of performance immediately after the event, since focusing on things to improve the next time, or things that were not liked about performance, increases the chances of "choking" or performing worse in the future.
Brad Donahue

Think of work as a vocation. It should be something that calls to you as something you want to do, and it should be something that gives voice to who you are and what you want to say to the world. It is, above all else, something that lets you love.
Kent Nerburn, Letters to My Son

Words can be deadly weapons or protective layers of love. Words, thoughts and expressions send out a vibration into the universe. What we say and think about we bring about. Encouragement is an ongoing blessing. The underlying message is “keep going, you are on the right path.” It is an ever moving process, with an eye for the future and a vision of achievement.
Judy H Wright

Overcome Fear by Challenging Fears Positively

Fear is a primitive life-saving emotion. Whenever man was threatened in the jungle by a tiger or a wild boar, the biochemical reaction was to get adrenalin pumping, get the whole self on high alert and pump extra blood in the system. This often helped us save our lives. The fight or flight response helped man get out of danger.

True, there are two types of fear – biochemical and emotional.

The first is automatic, while emotional fear is individualized. For example, people may react differently to Halloween fear pranks. The reactions may range from scared but enjoy the fun to scared and haunted by the pranks. Fear hits the emotional button first before the brain reacts saying, “hey, don’t worry it’s just a spooky Halloween joke”.

How do we manage and handle emotional fear positively?
Let’s take a common fear – visiting the doctor. Why do we fear to meet a physician? Because we think our digestion problems may be diagnosed as some dreadful disease such as cancer. Or we may have to undergo endoscopy and scans.

We can handle this by analyzing the fear. What happens if you go, the doctor will diagnose the problem, prescribe medicines and you’ll be on the road to recovery. Perhaps, something dreadful has been avoided by the diagnosis and treatment. Look at the benefits, they far outweigh the negatives.

Fear and Excitement
You may wonder why people enjoy Halloween or those scary rides in theme parks. Or visit haunted houses. They are kicked up by the rush and excitement. They know well that after that scary excitement they’ll be fine, nothing will harm them.

Fear of Heights
I have vertigo. I’m not comfortable peering out of windows of high rises. I happened to go on an outbound program at work. We went rappelling. How did I conquer my fear of heights? I volunteered to try it first. I challenged my fear. I went up the high rock, sat and looked down and said I can do it. I’m confident. I decided to enjoy rappelling. I enjoyed it. I overcame my fears.

So the best thing to do is understand your fear. Look at the positive side – the benefits of working on it. Challenge your fear. Tell yourself you’ll be better off purging the fear of your mind. Do it now.

Benefits of positive attitude at workplace

Make your life better regarding your work. Choose today that you will begin the process of changing your attitude. Start finding anything that you can be positive about your job. Focus on it. As you do, you will find more things that are good about it. In so doing, you will change your life.
Michael Murphy

Positive attitude helps to cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It brings optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worry and negative thinking. If you adopt it as a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful. With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life, become optimistic and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing and strengthening.
Remez Sasson

Just learning one new idea can change a person's life. The more exposure to quality suggestions you have the more positive and permanent the results can be. This is why the most successful people still go to many seminars on business and find even greater success by listening to and using self-help motivational recordings daily. Never stop learning; use all of the resources available to you. Do not limit your self to just one or two ideas. You acquire small amounts of knowledge from many sources. As you assimilate this knowledge use it wisely and you will have discovered your potential is unlimited and your future full of bright images of success as well as having a positive and can do attitude.
Frederick G. Burgin

To empower and motivate your employees, customers, your suppliers, your bankers and so on, you simply need to be a genuine, positive and cheerful person. You develop a positive mental attitude. You be the kind of person from whom, “never is heard a discouraging word.” You are easygoing, genial, friendly, patient, tolerant and open minded. You make people feel comfortable being around you.
Vadim Kotelnikov

When a person can focus on something other than illness, it allows the body to take advantage of our own healing capacity. Hope in something beyond the illness and dedicating oneself to cures for the illness rather than dwelling on oneself and one's illness "gives purpose to life," and helps prevent the negative effects of stress while medical science does its work.

6 Wokplace Etiquettes you Must Follow

You’re good at technology, designing, sales. But how about understanding people at work? That’s the key to success at work. Know your workplace etiquette to be effective at office.

Dress Smartly
If you’re new to work, it’s best not to splurge on new dresses. Get into your office and watch the general trend of dressing. See what the bosses wear. Don’t wear loud colors. Full sleeves and typical corporate trousers are recommended. Match your socks and shoes with your trousers. Don’t be seen as a casual dresser.

Avoid Gossiping at Office
Gossiping is a time wasting effort whose only reward is painful isolation. Keep away from it and avoid encouraging those who bite behind others backs. Sooner or later the gossiper is “caught” and gets isolated from peers at work.

Write formal emails
Never assume it’s okay to say hee, lol, btw etc. Be formal and polite in your emails whether to internal or external customers. Personalize each mail. Leave your complete signature with contact numbers.

Network at Office
If you sit at your desk all day, you’re not gonna make any friends. Move out, meet people and know what they do. When you need help you’ll know whom to turn to. Find out what else the workplace offers in terms of activities. Volunteer to join one or two. Contribute meaningfully. This helps build a positive brand for you.

Behavior Etiquette
Never swear at work. Don’t take unnecessary calls at work. Follow table manners. Avoid chatting net chats. And don’t be rude to anyone.

Don’t intrude into colleague’s zone
Give each one the space to do their own things. Never impose yourself on someone even if you want to help them. Don’t offer to help unless you’re comfortable with the colleague. Guide them when they seek help.
