Famous quotes

We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers. A man thinking or working is always alone, let him be where he will.

Stephen Covey Inspiring Words

You give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Human beings are not things needing to be motivated and controlled; they are four dimensional—body, mind, heart, and spirit.

The moment of making choice is the moment of truth!

Spiritual View of Life
First of all, you are dealing with the whole person. That includes the
person’s spirit or soul. You cannot separate their body or their mind or their heart from their spirit, because they are all so inter-related, and there is a synergistic relationship between all these four dimensions of our nature. Any attempt to compartmentalise will reduce that synergistic effect and it will have negative repercussions on your body, your mind, your heart, your emotions, your thinking
and so forth.

Another dimension would be that you are dealing with those principles that are universal and timeless.

Thirdly, spirituality deals with peace of conscience. Obeying or following your conscience, means that you are true to that which you have internalised as being right and this gives you tremendous tranquillity and courage.

Voice is unique personal significance—significance that is revealed as we face our greatest challenges and that makes us equal to them.
Dr. Stephen R. Covey, 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness

Often we are so busy with sawing that we forget to shapen the saw.

If you want to make minor, incremental changes and improvements, work on practices, behavior or attitude. But if you want to make significant, quantum improvement, work on paradigms.

The more we use and magnify our present talents, the more talents we are given and the greater our capacity becomes.

Vision comes as people sense human need and respond to their conscience in trying to meet that need.

Instead of taking two watches, take compass. It is not important how fast you are moving, but where you are moving.

Scott Peck's Wisdom on Life

Life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived.

Real love is a permanently self-enlarging experience.

Two people love each other only when they are quite capable of living without each other but choose to live with each other.

Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult - once we truly understand and accept it - then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.

Love is as love does. Love is an act of will--namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love.
Everything that happens in life is there to aid our spiritual growth.
The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.

If you expect another person to make you happy, you’ll be endlessly disappointed.

An essential part of true listening is the discipline of bracketing, the temporary giving up or setting aside of one's own prejudices, frames of reference and desires so as to experience as far as possible the speaker's world from the inside, step in inside his or her shoes. This unification of speaker and listener is actually and extension and enlargement of ourselves, and new knowledge is always gained from this. Moreover, since true listening involves bracketing, a setting aside of the self, it also temporarily involves a total acceptance of the other. Sensing this acceptance, the speaker will fell less and less vulnerable and more and more inclined to open up the inner recesses of his or her mind to the listener. As this happens, speaker and listener begin to appreciate each other more and more, and the duet dance of love is begun again.

Ernest Hemingway Quotes

When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.

A man can be destroyed but not defeated.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

Courage is grace under pressure.

"There's no one thing that is true. They're all true.

Let him think I am more man than I am and I will be so.

If two people love each other, there can be no happy end to it.

So far, about morals, I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.

Never mistake motion for action.

There is no friend as loyal as a book.

I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?

To be a successful father there's one absolute rule: when you have a kid, don't look at it for the first two years.

We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.

India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only!
Mark Twain

India was the motherland of our race, and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages: she was the mother of our philosophy; mother, through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics; mother, through the Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity; mother, through the village community, of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all.
Will Durant, American historian who wrote the best-seller "The Story of Philosophy."

There are some parts of the world that, once visited, get into your heart and won’t go. For me, India is such a place. When I first visited, I was stunned by the richness of the land, by its lush beauty and exotic architecture, by its ability to overload the senses with the pure, concentrated intensity of its colors, smells, tastes, and sounds. It was as if all my life I had been seeing the world in black and white and, when brought face-to-face with India, experienced everything re-rendered in brilliant technicolor.
Keith Bellows

India profoundly changed my outlook on life because you see how people can be content and very happy with little or even no possessions. It's the reverse of the West.

Catharina Lodders, 1962 Miss World after winning the Miss world crown

No, I did not. I was totally shocked when my name was announced as the name of Miss World 2005. But it was the most awesome and fulfilling surprise ever for me, I am enjoying every minute of it!

Unnur Birna, Miss World 2005, on being asked if she expected to win.
I always knew I would be successful. So there was no element of surprise.

I did not hear my name at first, I just heard it echo around the room. I only knew it was me because nobody else moved! Then it all came true “It is wonderful to know that so many people voted for me in the text vote and put me through to the top two in Northern Europe. I was pleased to win the title of Miss World Northern Europe. Then to win Miss World is incredible. I just feel wonderful. It came as a big shock but the feeling is incredible. I am numb.

You also have to remember you know that you're a 'celebrity', for want of a better word, People don't have to care what you're doing or look up to you or want to emulate you, admire you or all of that. It is a tremendous gift and a privilege and I think that you have a responsibility if you find yourself in that position because, remember, you know you did a number of things to put yourself in that position. So having made your bed, you must now find a way to lie down in it. I believe that.

The fact that I am the first Miss World to be decided by a global vote makes this award unbelievably precious. I will cherish the memories of tonight. Now that I have become a genuine world ambassador I intend to do everything in my power to promote the good causes that have been the driving force for Miss World for over half a century. I only hope that I can do the job with the dignity and panache that Rosanna Davison has done for the last year.

There's a priority there. I have something to prove to myself first. Once I prove it to myself I can prove it to the public. I can prove it to the media. I can prove it to anyone else. But I need to prove it to myself first. If I can't prove it to myself, then I can't prove it to anyone else.

Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come - Famous Positive and Inspiring quote

Victor Hugo, author of Les Misrables and The Hunch Back of Notre Dame

An oft-quoted famous positive quote, it's an inspiring quote. It just implores anyone with an idea to Just Do It. Do not hesitate, dilly dally or be in doubt when you have hit upon an idea. Gather the guts to overcome initial hesitations and criticisms from those around you, and launch the idea. Christopher Columbus did that. So did Google's founders.

If they can, so can you! Be Positive.
